Viola Power
Viola Power brand was created by renowed Spanish violist Isabel Villanueva and designed by famous cartoonist Mikel Urmeneta in 2018. It aims to go a step forward in the Classical Music field and to serve as a platform and social community to promote, conect worldwide and enhance the artistic value of the Viola. Signos (2021)
The origin of this project stems from the desire of the violist Isabel Villanueva and the choreographer Antonio Ruz to collaborate in a multidisciplinary stage work that opens a new window into classical music and contemporary dance. This encounter of languages proposes, without prejudice, a dialogue between sound, movement, voice, objects and light (or the absence of it). A dramatized concert, a choreographed viola recital? With a refined aesthetic concept and lighting design, the beautiful and complex sound architecture of the musical pieces/miniatures of composers György Kurtág and Johann Sebastian Bach performed masterfully by Isabel, will be fused with the body score proposed by Antonio; a dramaturgy that navigates between the dreamlike, the poetic and the unsettling. In this atmosphere of accompanying loneliness, Isabel and her viola, guarded by Antonio (her alter ego, shadow, consciousness), will embark on a physical and emotional journey that will leave no one indifferent.
“She sits, walks, goes up to the table, dances, lays down, sleeps, floats, runs, screams, looks in the mirror, strips naked, lights the light, closes her eyes, smiles,…“

Raíces (2021)
Viola soloist Isabel Villanueva and pianist Moisés P. Sánchez come together to connect Classical Music & Jazz and make tribute to the Music from the roots, its origins, and present an expressive way without borders also linked to different stylistic ways of music. In this sense, they risk to present this new project arranged and reviewed with both curiosity and respect, including music by traditional spanish composers such as Manuel de Falla, Pablo de Sarasate, Paco de Lucía or the famous songs by Federico García Lorca, among others.
Together with them, other renowed musicians are in this musical journey such as great doublebass player Pablo M. Caminero, known by his work of fusionating Flamenco, Jazz and Classical, and percussionist Manu Masaedo, one of the flamenco new prominent artists of today.

The Art of Love (2018)
(Extract from shortfilm)
In a desert, a blond woman, a dog and a voice that declaims in Mandarin. Space-time is uncertain, the alternation between static and dynamic phases intersect with a car trip; A brunette woman quotes Sun-Tzu, evocation in the form of a homodegetic retrospective. Is love only possible without war?
Memory, inseparable from remembrance, takes us to the peaks of a stormy relationship, that of these two women whom everything seems to oppose, carried away by loving passion. The anachronistic eruption of a music anouncing modernity in classical music, reinforces the feeling of multiplicity that emerges from the different story forms. A 16mm respectful reappropriation of classic Far West cinema references, with a hint of tribute, magnified by the spellbinding lyricism of Isabel Villanueva’s viola.
